My name is Gino De Buck, born in 1970 in Ghent Belgium and working as a Military IT-Developer for the Belgium Army in Brussels.

In 2000, I got married with Isabelle and became father in 2002 of a daugther Bo, named after Bowmore.

How I became a whisky fan?

Well, it all started after a whisky tasting in the Glengarry Whisky Club in Ghent. This was my introduction into 'The water of Life' world. I fell in love with the Single Malt Whisky and especially The Dalwhinnie 15 years old tasted during this whisky tasting.

How I became a collector of Bowmore Single Malt Whisky?

It was on the Internet that I found 'The Whisky House' where I bought my first Single Malt Whisky bottles. My intension was to collect one bottle of all existing distilleries of Scotland. That was the beginning of my Whisky Collection. The first Bowmore bottle in this collection was a Bowmore 17 years old I had tasted in the club and I fell in love with it.

It was love at first sight because of the peaty taste and the design and shape of the bottle.

Because my first intension seemed to be unreachable because of the many distilleries, I decided to stop my collection of Single Malt and to start collecting Bowmore bottles.

I had no idea how many different bottles of Bowmore were ever produced and still available on the market. During my search, I got in touch with Hans Sommer from the Netherlands who, I believe, had the largest and the most exclusive private Bowmore collection at that moment in the world . 

After seeing his collection, I was convinced that this was what I also wanted to have.

Meanwhile I became active on E-bay, looking for new bottles. Also during my two visites to Scotland I obtained different bottles. Additionally, I had the possibility to buy some special items from Hans Sommer who, in the meantime, sold his collection to the Bowmore Distillery.

That's how one bottle Bowmore became two and two became three and three became more and more. At this moment my collection consists of 100 full bottles, some half bottles, miniatures, ceramics, waterjugs and merchandise items.
